Calpulli Tecalco is a transdisciplinary organization that works on the research and preservation of the biocultural heritage of indigenous cultures. We bring together and combine traditional oral, scientific, social, technological, and artistic knowledge with people, communities, and institutions interested in community work, indigenous cultures, and the environment.
In particular, we seek to preserve and revitalize the knowledge that the indigenous peoples of the south of the Mexico City Basin have developed in their interaction with their environment, enabling natural reserves and highly sustainable agricultural systems that are today in danger of being lost. Calpulli Tecalco has a 25-year history of carrying out programs, projects, and community actions related to the rehabilitation of the Nahua language, culture and their environment. Among these, we have taught more than 1000 workshops on agriculture, science dissemination, Nahuatl language, local history, art, robotics, archaeology, among others.
Calpulli Tecalco has a constant growing community constituted by girls and boys, men and women, ranging from children, adolescent young and elderly adults
